About the events
Performance: This unique, one-man show, entitled ‘Around the fire at the club’ is written and performed by Frank Boyle, and is a recital of Yeats’ poetry from his early years to the close of his life, as well as an account of Yeats’ life itself. It illustrates the major themes and passions in his poetry and life. Frank Boyle is a professional actor with extensive experience in theatre, TV and film both in Ireland and Finland. This promises to be a lively, entertaining performance by the inimitable Frank Boyle; come along and enjoy Yeats as never before!
Sculpture: Inspired by his old English teacher’s passion for Yeats, and crediting Yeats with playing a role in his decision to become an artist, David Flood has always been a big fan of Ireland’s famed poet. For Yeats2015, the year-long celebration of the 150th anniversary of Yeats’ birth, David wanted to create something both visual and modern about W.B. Yeats. The piece consists of a CGI 3D sculpture of the bust of W.B. Yeats. This original sculpture will be displayed for the first time on 13 June in Helsinki. It promises to be an excellent and highly original piece of art and all are encouraged to come and view it. The sculpture will be on display before the entertainment and David will present it during the event.
