Irish National poet, of International renown, Nobel Laureate, Senator and founding member of the Abbey Theatre ( the National Theatre of Ireland) , WB Yeats occupies a special place at the heart of Irish Literature.
Irish poet , Colette Bryce ( winner of the Cholmondeley Award for Poetry 2010 and the special Ewart-Biggs Prize in memory of the poet Seamas Heaney in 2015) will visit Nairobi to celebrate with Kenyan poets the 150 centenary of Yeats.
This trip is being funded by the Irish Government and facilitated by the new Embassy of Ireland in Nairobi, through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Colette Bryce will present a selection of Yeats greatest poems and talk about the life and revolutionary times that inspired them. Kenyan poets to feature are: Mufasa Poet and Corine. This event will take place on Thursday 3rd December at PAWA 254.
Doors open at 5.30pm and performances will take place at 6.30pm. Welcome drinks will be offered by Jameson East Africa.
