‘Lady Gregory’s Legacy’ – The life of an amazing Galway woman

May 12, 2015 @ 8:00 pm - 10:00 pm

Best known as a founding member of the Abbey Theatre, and friend of WB Yeats, Augusta Gregory’s lived through events that shaped not just Ireland but the Europe of her day. Touched by loss, triumph, emerging idealogies and the conflicts of her times, she was equally absorbed by the children who stole apples from her orchards, and saving money to pay for a new chimney at Coole…

A friend to many, she was equally at home in the ballrooms of aristocratc London as she was collecting folklore in the workhouse in Gort.
Believing as she did, that women should put men first, she often underplayed her role and achievements in the Literary Revival.
The traditional music of Tale of the Gael, with its classical overtones makes a superb backdrop for a more personal look at the life, times and achievements of this extraordinary Galway woman who was both a product of her class and time, and a rebel.

Anecdote, story, song music and poetry combined in a well-researched, charming and informative production.
