‘Such Friends’: Yeats, Yeats and Quinn – A lecture by Dr. Kathleen Dixon Donnell
In the early years of the 20th century, the painter John Butler Yeats, father of William Butler Yeats, moved to New York city for a short holiday but never came back. Despite his family’s entreaties for him to come home to Ireland, he absolutely refused. He had some exhibitions, but was mostly supported by his poet-playwright son and an Irish American friend, John Quinn, an interesting character in his own right. This lecture will provide an insight into what these Irishmen were doing with this Irish American in the Big Apple!
Admission is £3 (Members Free)
