World Poetry Day Performance: Martin Dyar
Martin Dyar is one of the best regarded young poets in Ireland and has won international acclaim for his electrifying public performances of his work. His debut collection Maiden Names was chosen as a book of the year in both the Guardian and the Irish Times. He won the Patrick Kavanagh Award and is a former writer in residence at the International Writing Program at the University of Iowa. Martin will also discuss the relevance of W.B. World Poetry Day Lecture: ‘Yeats in Transit’ by Dr. Frank Shovlin (University of Liverpool)
Frank Shovlin is one of Ireland’s leading literary scholars. His lecture will consider W.B. Yeats’s interest in travel and examine its impact on some of his best known poems. It will also look at how other poets such as R.S. Thomas, Padraic Fallon, and Patrick Kavanagh observed him as he moved through places and social classes. Booking essential.
