2 – 4pm: Music in the front hall with Denise Kelly- McDonnell harp, Ellen Cranitch flute, Jane Hughes cello. Niall MacMonagle will introduce a selection of Yeats’s poems read by students from the Poetry Aloud competition. Follow the Yeats trail to find the places in the library that are associated with the poet.
4.00pm: ‘The Poet and the Library: Yeats and the National Library of Ireland’ – this short talk by Katherine McSharry of the NLI explores Yeats’s links with the National Library. Visit the Reading Room where Yeats and Joyce
read and studied. Exhibition Yeats: The Life and Works of William Butler Yeats open all day. Enjoy a slice of Yeats birthday cake in Café Joly.
