Lorely Forrester is a founder member of the charity garden trail, Secret Gardens of Sligo, and has been gardening ‘forever’ – her earliest horticultural memory is planting a tiny hedge around her own small plot in the Barbados garden of her childhood. Gardening has always been her passion, hobby and ‘therapy’. Lorely is a designer, writer and editor. She enjoys designing gardens but this is her first show garden.
‘Yeats’s Secret Garden in Sligo’ is a Yeats2015 initiative, part of the celebrations for the poet’s 150th anniversary that are taking place nationwide.
The garden is based around Yeats’s famous poem, ‘The Lake Isle of Innisfree’, which was the garden Yeats conjured up in his imagination while he was living in London as a young man.
The garden will feature an Irish Rose for Yeats -the new WB Yeats Rose being launched this year.
