To the Waters & The Wild – A FREE Guided Tour of Sligo’s Wild Places Friday 22nd May 2015 9.30am – 16.30pm To celebrate International Biodiversity Day (22nd May), the Heritage Office, Sligo County Council in association with Woodrow Environmental Consultants will host a free guided tour of Sligo’s wonderful natural environment, visiting a variety of wild places while learning about the habitats and species that makes them so special. Sligo’s natural heritage was a huge inspiration for Yeats and continues to inspire us today. The event is an initiative of Sligo County Council to celebrate Yeats 150. From spring woodlands, coastal dune systems, mountains, to our fabulous wetlands there is so much to explore! So join us as we go on a magical mystery tour ‘to the waters and the wild’ in Sligo on Friday 22nd May 2015. The group will travel by bus and participants should dress appropriately for outdoor activities and bring a picnic lunch and refreshments. Booking is essential (by 1pm Thursday 21st May 2015) as places are strictly limited. Biodiversity Day is all about connecting people with nature. It’s about communicating the importance of biodiversity and motivating people to play their part in protecting it. It’s also about entertaining them; showing the fun and wonder that can be found in nature; and inspiring people to learn more, see more, do more.
